The cross coupe has a new economical modification with a familiar power plant.
Modification kupeobrazny crossover Mercedes-Benz GLE was officially declassified in the late summer, but then the manufacturer released information only on diesel power plants. Then the traditional counterpart of the latest cross-coupe got a modification GLE 350 de, and now turn to diesel-electric propulsion came to the GLE Coupe.
She hasn’t changed and still consists of a row of two-liter “four”, running on diesel and electric motor. The first engine develops 194 BHP and 400 Nm from 1 600 rpm, the second outputs 136 HP and 440 Nm, and their combined impact on the claimed 320 HP and 700 Nm, which is consistent with the diesel engine of substantial size.
That’s only Mercedes-Benz GLE 350 de Coupe is another member of the power plant – 31,2-kilowatt battery, which allows the SUV to drive the electric traction depending on conditions from 86 to 100 km WLTP cycle. Accordingly, the fuel consumption of such a cross-coupe is minimal, although the manufacturer claims it cautiously from 1.1 to 1.3 litres of diesel per 100 kilometers.
Despite the impressive traction, diesel-electric version of the cross-coupe was the slowest of those that have already appeared in the model (except the one built in the AMG and provided an index of 53). Acceleration to 100 km/h, it spends 6.9 seconds: it’s 0.1 slower with the standard crossover with the same motors and 0.3 s slower 272-strong cross-coupe GLE 350 d. The maximum speed of the hybrid is 210 km/h when using both motors and 160 km/h at one electric. Apparently, the main advantage of the product is its efficiency.
On the optional features of the model extension engine range is not affected: for diesel-electric modifications available exactly the same options as for the rest of the cross-coupe. But its cargo capabilities several injured. If the GLE Coupe with a conventional internal combustion engine in the trunk with the rear seats folded will fit up to 1 790 l, then the hybrid max – 1 645 L. However, it is not surprising, as the boot capacity of standard crossover with a hybrid power plant is also smaller than its counterparts with internal combustion engines.
