1000 km without recharging: an electric SUV with a record power reserve went on sale

The Chinese company GAC has launched the all-wheel drive crossover GAC Aion LX Plus on the market. The novelty has an impressive power reserve without recharging.

RBC-Ukraine Auto reports this with a link to GizmoChina.

The Chinese brand currently sells five electric SUVs, the latest of which was the Aion LX Plus unveiled in November.

The model is offered in four trim levels to choose from. In the top Performance version, equipped with a 144.4 kWh battery, the electric SUV is capable of driving 1008 kilometers on a single battery charge – according to the outdated NEDC cycle, according to the modern WLTC methodology, this number will be significantly lower.

Nevertheless, the automaker claims that its SUV is the longest-range production electric vehicle in the world with a record battery energy density of 205 Wh / kg.

The GAC Aion LX Plus Performance is powered by a pair of electric motors with a total capacity of 734 horsepower, which allows the SUV to accelerate to 100 km / h in just 2.9 seconds.

In addition, the autonomous driving system includes three RoboSense laser rangefinders and a total of 35 different sensors.

The price of the record-breaking crossover in China starts at 459,600 yuan (about $ 72,000). The new GAC will compete with electric crossovers from local brands NIO, XPeng, as well as American Tesla and Lucid.
