19 Minutes: New Electric Cadillac Sold Out

On Saturday September 18, Cadillac opened orders for its first production electric vehicle, the Lyriq luxury crossover. The demand exceeded all expectations of the brand: in just 19 minutes, the entire circulation of the Debut Edition prepared for launch was reserved. Deliveries are scheduled to begin in Q2 2022, so some customers may be able to withdraw reservations that required a $ 100 refundable deposit.

Other performance levels of the Cadillac Lyriq are not yet available for pre-order. What is special about the Debut Edition and how many cars Cadillac has prepared for the start of sales are not reported, but the first batch was unlikely to be large. As Electrek writes with reference to one of the dealers in the United States, it included 1,500 cars.

Lyriq’s full starting cost is $ 59,990. The electric crossover presented in April received an original appearance, a 33-inch curved multimedia system screen and a branded Super Cruise track autopilot.

The Lyriq is powered by a 340-horsepower electric unit powered by a 100 kilowatt-hour battery. According to Cadillac, its full charge will provide up to 480 kilometers of travel, and in 10 minutes it will be possible to replenish it for about 120 kilometers. Another feature of the Lyriq is the lack of a front rack, which most green rivals offer.

As for them, the Tesla Cybertruck electric pickup with the same $ 100 deposit received almost 150 thousand pre-orders within two days and 250 thousand in the first week. Ford managed to collect 44,000 bookings in two days with the F-150 Lightning pickup, while Volkswagen sold several thousand IDs in eight hours.
