200 thousand per year: Rivian increases the production of electric SUVs

The very first commercial Rivian R1T pickup truck rolled off the assembly line in Normal, Illinois on September 14. The automaker claims that in the near future the production of cars will reach 200 thousand per year.

RBC-Ukraine Auto reports this with a link to Carscoops.

By the end of October, the company produced 180 pickups and 156 of them have already been delivered to customers. Rivian R1T production continues to grow and the automaker plans to build around 1,200 R1Ts by the end of the year. In addition, production of the Rivian R1S SUVs will begin in December. Rivian will also begin production of its Amazon electric van this year.

Rivian also confirmed that the company will cope with all its pre-orders by the end of 2023. The company has currently accepted 55,400 pre-orders for R1T and R1S in the US and Canada. The automaker added that it plans to produce 150,000 electric vehicles a year in the early days. The expansion of the plant’s production capacity will allow the production of 200 thousand cars by 2023.
