Kia has announced a U.S. revocable campaign that affects over 30 thousand large crossovers Telluride assembled at the factory in Georgia. The reason – incorrect installation of the seat belts.
According to the notification published by the National administration of safety of traffic (NHTSA) of the United States, shall be subject to revocation crossovers Kia Telluride, released at the Kia Motor Manufacturing Georgia in the period from 9 January to 5 August 2019. It turned out that when assembling more than 30 thousand utility could install the wrong belt. Armchairs of the driver and front passenger, and a seat second and third rows in the specifications for the U.S. market equipped with safety belts, designed for countries of the Middle East.
The difference between the belts is that for the United States necessarily required the automatic locking retractor seat belt for the protection of children in a child seat. For the Middle East this option is not provided. Most worryingly, it is precisely not known, what exactly the “Tellurides” installed the wrong belts. According to preliminary estimates of the automaker, it is only about 300 crossovers, but to withdraw will have all 30 of 168 cars.
In the near future all owners will be notified of the beginning of the service and invited to come to a convenient dealership. Incorrect belts will be replaced free of charge. Otherwise, there is a risk of injury to a child in an accident. We will remind, the premiere Kia Telluride took place in January of 2019 at the auto show in Detroit. Therefore you should test everything released from this point on the car. After 5 August, when it was revealed the problem with the belts, correct installation is controlled directly at the factory.
