At the moment, Mercedes-Benz does not have enough spare parts to fix the defect. So far, car owners have been warned of the danger.
Mercedes-Benz is preparing for a large-scale recall of vehicles due to a defect. Over 800 thousand cars around the world are in urgent need of repair, otherwise there is a risk of fire. However, there are serious troubleshooting issues at this point. Reported by Reuters.
A defect has been detected in the Mercedes-Benz cooling system. The water pump is leaking and a loss of coolant could very well lead to engine overheating and fire.
A faulty water pump was installed on a number of Mercedes-Benz diesel models from January 2017 to October 2021. Among them:
- Mercedes-Benz C-Class
- Mercedes-Benz CLS
- Mercedes-Benz E-Class
- Mercedes-Benz G-Class
- Mercedes-Benz GLC
- Mercedes-Benz GLE
- Mercedes-Benz GLS
- Mercedes-Benz S-Class
Replacing the pump in a Mercedes-Benz is not difficult, but the German manufacturer is having problems with spare parts. Suppliers of components for German cars simply cannot immediately provide 800 thousand water pumps.
A review of the car is still being prepared, but everything will not happen as quickly as we would like. In the meantime, Daimler has notified all Mercedes-Benz owners with defective pumps about the problem and recommended keeping track of the car.
