Silverstone auctioned a “time capsule” that has spent its entire life in a garage without moving.
The Volkswagen Golf GTI hatchback was put up for auction, which has traveled only 12.8 km since production in 2002. In addition to perfect condition and minimum mileage, this car is also distinguished by belonging to a limited special edition, released in honor of the 25th anniversary of models with the name GTI.
The Volkswagen Golf GTI put up for auction is equipped with a commemorative nameplate with the number 0718. The hatchback is developed on the basis of the fourth Golf, the body is painted in a silver color called Reflex Silver. The car visually differs from the standard model with other, more aggressive bumpers, 18-inch BBS wheels, wider sills, as well as a diffuser and a rear spoiler.
The front brakes on the auctioned Volkswagen Golf GTI are reinforced with red calipers, and the suspension is stiffer and lower than stock versions. The interior is equipped with Recaro sports seats, seat belts in black and red fabric, and the interior is finished in brushed aluminum.
The engine compartment of this Volkswagen Golf GTI is powered by a 1.8-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine with a maximum output of 180 hp. and 235 Nm of torque. A 6-speed manual transmission works in tandem with this engine. So far, the organizers of the auction do not even disclose the starting price of the car. The auction itself is scheduled for July 31 this year.
