Acura’s parent company, Honda, recently filed for registration of the ADX trademark. A plaque bearing this name may appear on GM’s upcoming Acura electric SUV.
Acura’s upcoming electric SUV may be called the ADX, as evidenced by the recent trademark registration of Honda, Acura’s parent company, with the US Patent and Trademark Office. It is also possible that the ADX name will be given to Acura’s petrol-powered SUV, possibly based on the next-generation HR-V that Honda is developing for the North American market. Likewise, there is always the chance that Honda applied for the ADX trademark simply to prevent another automaker from using it.
However, it can still be assumed that Acura will name the ADX for its upcoming electric SUV to be built by General Motors. While it will likely share platform, powertrain, and battery with other GM EVs that use Ultium battery-electric parts, Acura’s electric SUV should still have a distinctive exterior and interior design that reflects the current style of the luxury brand. .
Likewise, we believe Acura’s electric SUV will share some body panels, if any, with its Honda-badged siblings, which GM is also looking to build for the Japanese automaker. While Acura has yet to officially reveal the name of its electric GM SUV, Honda has confirmed that its variant will carry the Prologue designation.
