Alfa Romeo has outlined the timing of the appearance of the new Tonale cross. The premiere of the model is scheduled for Q1 2022. There are also details about the power plant – it will be a hybrid, with the ability to recharge the battery from the outlet.
The information on the plug-in hybrid was confirmed by Alfa Romeo CEO Jean-Phillip Imparato at a meeting with suppliers and management of the Italian company of the brand. So far, the plant is assembling hybrid modifications of the Panda model, but in 2022 the Tonale cross will be put on the conveyor.
The Alfa Romeo Tonale will be built on a platform familiar from the Jeep Compass. Based on this, we can assume that the cross will receive a hybrid power plant from Compass 4xe. It consists of a 1.3-liter turbo engine and an electric motor mounted on the rear axle. On the Compass 4xe, they produce a total of 190 or 240 horsepower. The electric engine is powered by a battery with a capacity of 11.4 kW / h, the charge of which is enough for 49 km when driving on one electric traction.
In June 2021, the Alfa Romeo Tonale prototype was first photographed during tests on public roads. Then it became clear that the production car would receive a minimum of differences from the 2019 show car. The headlights and rear-view mirrors will undergo changes, and the radiator grill will increase in size.
There is no information on the price of the Alfa Romeo Tonale yet.
