Once a simple tuning studio, and now an independent automaker Alpina, under the auspices of BMW, showed an updated version of the B8 Gran Coupe following the restyling of the 8 Series.
The changes are few: the four-door received the same illuminated grille as the updated BMW 8 Series, but with a different finish, and an enlarged multimedia system screen (now it is 12.3 inches instead of 10.25).
Technically, everything is standard: in the engine compartment of the Alpina B8, a 4.4-liter V8 biturbo is working, developing 621 hp. and 800 Nm. Before the update, such an engine in the BMW M8 Gran Coupe produced 600 hp, but now it has been removed from the range, leaving only Competition with a return of 625 hp. and 750 Nm. Among the simple “eights”, the most powerful is the M850i xDrive with a V8 with 530 hp. It turns out that the version from Buchloe in terms of “horses” loses only to the “emka” in the Competition modification, and in terms of torque it is the first.
In the transmission – the same automatic transmission and four-wheel drive, but initially Alpina reconfigures them in its own way. Acceleration from 0 to 97 km / h takes 3.3 seconds. The sedan takes 11.5 seconds to cover the quarter-mile drag distance. The top speed varies from 270 to 323 km/h depending on the tires, while the ceiling for the M8 Competition with M Driver’s package is 305 km/h.
The refreshed B8 Gran Coupe will be assembled in March, the cost is known: from 162,000 euros.
