Bavarian Alpina Automobiles has announced an update to its XD3 and XD4 crossovers. Now diesel “lighters” will be built on the basis of the restyled X3 / X4, which means that they will receive not only a corrected appearance, but also all related innovations, for example, a new climate control unit, a center console from a 3-series sedan and the iDrive 7 multimedia system. / p>
The main thing is that both Alpina crossovers will retain the three-liter “six” with four turbochargers, only they will become more powerful. Before the update, this unit developed 388 horsepower and 770 Nm of torque, and now it will be 394 horsepower and 800 Nm. For comparison: the top diesel BMW X3 / X4 M40d have only 340 forces and 700 Nm of torque in their arsenal. Better at “Alpin” and the dynamics of acceleration to the first “hundred”: 4.6 seconds against 4.9.
Standard equipment for the Alpina XD3 / XD4 will include electronically controlled dampers with their own settings, a limited-slip differential in the rear axle and 20-inch wheels. Also, the crossovers will differ in special settings for the xDrive all-wheel drive and the yaw rate control system Performance Control. For a surcharge, they will offer a full range of BMW options – from laser headlights to M-seats.
Orders for crossovers are already being accepted. A regular Alpina XD3 in Germany costs at least 85,900 euros, a coupe-like XD4 – 89,100 euros. Prices for the BMW X3 / X4 M40d start at 73,500 and 75,800 euros, respectively.
