French brand Alpine (owned by Renault) may cease to exist due to optimization of expenses of the concern. In this framework, Renault intends to convert the facility in Dieppe. On this plant now is going the only model Alpine A110 sports car.
As stated in the official message of Renault, manufacturing Alpine А110 be completed until 2023. Thus, the successor to this model will not receive. According to Autocar, the freed capacity can assemble electric cars. The publication does not exclude that these machines can begin to produce under the brand Alpine. Official confirmation of this information yet. According to the President of the Corporation Jean-Dominique Senara, Renault will have “very seriously” to examine the future of the brand Alpine.
In total the French company plans within three years to reduce nearly 15 thousand employees, including 4.6 thousand in France. At the moment, Renault employs 180 thousand employees worldwide.
In addition, the company decided to temporarily abandon plans to increase production capacities in Morocco and Romania. At the same time the group is going to study the “adaptation of production in our country”.
The Alpine A110 was presented in March 2016 at the Geneva motor show. Coupe equipped with a 1.8-liter four-cylinder turbo engine issuing 252 horsepower. The engine is combined with robotized transmission with two clutches. Sports car able to accelerate from standstill to “hundreds” in 4.5 seconds.
Later, Alpine has introduced the “charged” version of model A110. Modification index S has received an upgraded suspension and a modified 1.8-liter unit with a capacity of 292 forces 40 forces more powerful than the standard unit. Torque remains at 320 Newton metres. Sports car is able to dial first “hundred” for 4.4 seconds – 0.1 faster with the regular version. Maximum speed was 260 kilometers per hour.
