Prototypes of the 2022 Mercedes C-Class were repeatedly caught in the lenses of photo spies, but in the “station wagon” body the novelty was seen for the first time. Although there’s not much to see here, the model has received a Panamericana grille, as well as a sporty front bumper, but at the moment it’s hard to make out the details.
In addition, the” charged ” station wagon received AMG wheels, a high-performance brake system with ventilated discs and sportier thresholds than the standard model.
At the rear, we note the exhaust system with four exhaust pipes separated by a diffuser. However, we note that this is a” soft ” version of the AMG, since it has round pipes instead of square ones, as on other AMG models. As a result, we have C43 or C53 in front of us.
Regardless of what it’s called, this model will ditch the current twin-turbo 3.0-liter V6 in favor of a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with 415 HP and 500 Nm of torque in the A45 S. That’s 30 HP (22 kW / 30 HP) more than the current C43, but 20 Nm less. Of course, the exact result remains a mystery.
The timing also remains unclear, but the standard C-Class is expected to be unveiled early next year. Most likely, AMG variants will follow in a few months.
