The Volkswagen Golf GTI hatchback appeared in 1976, and therefore celebrates its 45th anniversary in this. For the anniversary, as expected, a special edition of the model, the Golf GTI Clubsport 45, has been prepared. Such cars are distinguished by their decor and lack an electronic speed limiter.
The Volkswagen Golf GTI Clubsport 45 hatchback is based on the usual GTI Clubsport with a 2.0 TSI turbo engine (300 forces and 400 Nm), a DSG “robot” and an electronic differential lock in the front axle. And the highlight is the Race package, which is included in the standard equipment of the anniversary cars. Along with it, buyers will receive 19-inch Scottsdale wheels, a sports exhaust system and a speed limiter removed (by default it is set at 250 kilometers per hour). Although what “maximum speed” the hot hatch can now develop is not specified.
The Golf GTI Clubsport 45 can be visually distinguished by the black roof and spoiler, as well as the “45” nameplates on the body and in the cabin. Pre-orders in Europe will start accepting next week. In Germany, such a car will cost 47,790 euros. At the same time, a regular GTI Clubsport will cost 41,265 euros, and a simple GTI – 36,555 euros. But the latter lacks a differential, and its engine produces 245 horsepower and 370 Nm of torque.
Golf GTI special editions have been released every five years since 1996. For example, for the 40th anniversary of the Volkswagen model, it introduced the first Clubsport based on the Golf GTI Performance, and in honor of the 30th anniversary it launched the 230-horsepower Golf GTI 30th Anniversary Edition. The very first special edition of the Golf GTI was the 1983 Golf GTI Pirelli.
