The jury of the annual contest “European car of the year 2020” (Car of the Year 2020) have identified a list of seven finalists, who claim to be the best news. And the winner will be named at the Geneva Motorshow in March.
The jury consists of 60 car experts from 23 European countries. They studied 35 new products from the short-list and identified seven finalists: BMW 1-Series, Ford Puma, Peugeot 208 and Renault Clio and Toyota Corolla, Porsche Taycan and Tesla Model 3.
In the shortlist in turn consisted of four BMW models (1 Series, Z4, X6, and X7) four: Toyota (Camry, Corolla, RAV4 and Supra GS), four Mercedes (CLA, GLB, GLS and EQC), three Renault (Captur, Clio and Zoe), two Porsche (Taycan, 911), Mazda (Mazda3, CX-30), Skoda (Kamiq, Scala) and Volkswagen (Golf, T-Cross). Other brands were represented in the list of the same model. For example, Audi in the short-list was the only e-tron, DS – 3 Crossback and presented Tributo Ferrari F8. In addition, the fight for the title of best cars have included Ford Puma, Kia e-Soul, Nissan Juke, Opel Corsa, Peugeot 208, Range Rover Evoque, SsangYong Korando, Subaru Forester, and Tesla Model 3.
A year earlier, the main prize went to electric crossover Jaguar I-Pace, which is only slightly outstripped by the number of points of the Alpine A110 sports car. As a result called “co-winner”. In addition to these two models in the finale also managed to get Kia Ceed, Ford Focus, Citroen Aircross C5, Peugeot 508 and Mercedes-Benz A-Class.
