The model is expected to premiere at the 2022 Paris Motor Show.
The British edition of Autoexpress.co.uk has presented unofficial renderings of the electrified Renault crossover, which will replace the current Renault Kadjar. The model is expected to be shown in the fall of 2022, and in the lineup it will be located one step below the Megane E-Tech Electric model.
Renault technical director Gilles Le Born shared the details about the new electric car. A representative of the brand said that the automaker “is already working on a new electric vehicle.” A crossover with a wheelbase of 2.78 meters (the distance between the axles of Kadjar is 2.64 meters), which will receive a battery with a capacity of 60 or 87 kWh and will be able to travel about 500 kilometers on a single charge. It takes about 35 minutes to charge from 10 percent to 80 percent.
We also found out that the upcoming electric model will be more spacious than the current Kadjar, and there will also be additional useful space in the trunk. The model’s equipment list will include the OpenR infotainment complex based on Android Automotive with a 12-inch vertical touchscreen. In addition, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster will be offered. Rendered images show a crossover with retractable door handles and a new 2D brand logo, as well as narrow headlights and Y-shaped daytime running lights.
Most likely, the model will be offered with an electric motor on the rear axle with a capacity of 215 or 239 hp. There is also the possibility that there will be a twin-engine version – such a setup is tipped for the “charged” version of Alpine. Most likely, a new name will be chosen for the model, which was not previously used on the models of the French brand. The model will go on sale no earlier than 2023.
