The compact Skoda crossover, announced at the end of the year before last and presented as a Vision In concept at an exhibition in New Delhi in 2020, has officially become serial. It is called Kushaq. In fact, the design of the novelty was revealed during the teaser campaign, but now we have full photos and videos and all the technical details.
“Kushak” is a rather close relative, but by no means a complete copy of the European Kamiq. It is designed and manufactured in India on the MQB-A0-IN platform, a variant of MQB tailored to the needs of the local market.
Machine dimensions – 4221x1760x1612 mm, wheelbase – 2651 mm. The trunk holds 385 liters, while the cabin has storage compartments for an additional 26.2 liters. The Skoda Kushaq debuted in an exclusive orange body and 17-inch alloy wheels, but the simpler versions have 16-inch steel wheels.
In the interior, the differences from its European counterpart are also clearly noticeable: the Indian crossover has a two-spoke steering wheel, a touch panel is used to control the air conditioning system. In older trim levels, the size of the touchscreen increases from 7 to 10 inches, more advanced acoustics with a subwoofer appear.
The base for the Skoda Kushaq is a 115 hp liter turbo engine. and 175 Nm, combined with a six-speed manual and automatic. A 1.5-liter turbo four will also be available, developing 150 hp. and 250 Nm – with the same mechanics or a seven-speed robot.

Sales start in June. “Sash” will compete, for example, with the Indian Hyundai Creta, Ford EcoSport, and later with its co-platform, Volkswagen Taigun. Earlier, the Czech company said that they are considering the possibility of introducing Kushaq to other markets, but there is no new information on this yet.
