The novelty from Toyota will appear on the Thai market.
In Europe and Japan, the Toyota brand is releasing the fresh Yaris XP210 series on the modular TNGA architecture, as well as the sister SUV Yaris Cross. But emerging markets are still producing the simpler Yaris of the XP150 family, which debuted back in 2013. The “homeland” of this car is Southeast Asia, and now Toyota Yaris has been presented in Thailand after another update.
The previous modernization of such a Toyota Yaris was only a year ago, so now there are very few changes. The Yaris hatchback (4140 mm long) and the Yaris Ativ sedan (4420 mm) have a new front bumper with larger side inserts, and the center section of the grille is now painted black. The rear bumper has also changed, the decor has been slightly revised in the interior, and this is where the new models end. In addition, the Toyota Yaris X-Urban cross-hatchback has been added to the range.
The Yaris X-Urban version differs from the basic five-door in a black plastic body kit around the body, as well as 2-color 16-inch rims (instead of 15-inch). The black roof, which is offered as an option for the standard model, is cross-modified by default. Also, new springs and higher profile tires have increased the ground clearance from 135 to 165 mm. The interior of this version has a two-tone finish, with contrasting inserts not only on the seats, but also on the steering wheel.
The power unit of the modernized Toyota Yaris is the same. Thai models are equipped with a 1.2 (92 hp) three-cylinder naturally aspirated engine, which operates on the Atkinson economy cycle. With it, the Yaris qualifies for the local Eco Car program, which offers significant tax breaks. Only a non-alternative variator is paired with this motor.
