Skoda Auto celebrated its anniversary – the release of the 8 millionth MQ200 gearbox at the plant in Mlada Boleslav (Czech Republic). A manual five- or six-speed gearbox is used in various Skoda models, as well as in VolkSwagen, Audi and SEAT Group vehicles.
Last year alone, 383,000 units of mechanical five- and six-speed transmissions rolled off the assembly line in Mlada Boleslav, and the daily production volume is currently about 1900 units. The MQ200 is installed on vehicles with gasoline engines with a torque of up to 200 Nm and a displacement of 1.0 to 1.6 liters.
In addition to assembling the MQ100 and MQ200 manual gearboxes in Mlada Boleslav, the Czech car manufacturer also manufactures the 7-speed DQ200 gearbox from the DSG family at its Vrchlabí plant. In total, the company employs about 1,700 people in the production of transmissions at the two sites.
Along with the production of transmissions, in the same plant in Mlada Boleslav, Skoda produces high-voltage traction batteries for the plug-in hybrid models Skoda Superb iV and Skoda Octavia iV. In the same place, at the beginning of 2022, the production of MEB battery systems for the Skoda Enyaq iV battery crossover will be launched.
