Aston Martin declined to release the first electric vehicle Rapid E

FineAuto

The company Aston Martin has abandoned plans to produce electric cars Rapid E, according to Autocar, citing a source familiar with the situation. Instead, almost production-ready prototype will be a research project for the further electrification of the models of the brand.

Liftback is equipped with two electric motors that are powered by battery with a capacity of 65 kilowatt-hours. The efficiency of the unit is 610 horsepower and 950 Nm of torque. Acceleration to “hundreds” in the electric vehicle takes about four seconds, and top speed is 250 kilometers per hour. The stated power reserve is 322 kilometers by the WLTP cycle.

In April of 2019, it was reported that the model is ready for release on the capacity of the plant in St. Athanasios. The circulation was supposed to amount to 155 copies. Now, apparently, these plans will not come true – Rapid E will not fall on the conveyor. Autocar did not specify how much was taken orders for Aston Martin Rapid E.
