Images recently released on the Web show for the first time completely unmasked copies of the Audi A7 L, a new lengthened German sedan designed specifically for sale in China.
An unmasked new Audi A7 L was spotted in the middle of the street. This is probably a trial model that was used to shoot promotional materials in the run-up to the official launch. It won’t be just a longer wheelbase variant of the Audi A7 Sportback, as it is about to debut with a completely different bodywork with a new silhouette of a traditional sedan instead of a fastback. This body variant has been developed specifically for the Chinese market, where it will be assembled in a joint venture with SAIC.
Despite its new classic sedan silhouette, the new Audi A7 L has not undergone major cosmetic changes. Apart from the fact that the model has a longer length and a more prominent rear end, it has the same design and features as the regular Audi A7 that we can find in European dealerships: it even has similar horizontal optics with attractive LED graphics.
This extended version of the Audi A7 will be available exclusively with a four-cylinder 2.0-liter TFSI petrol engine, but with different power levels, from 190 to 245 hp, an 8-speed S-Tronic automatic transmission and the ability to install the system the quattro all-wheel drive of the German brand.
A series of spy photos popping up on Instagram reveals that the model is about to be unveiled in the Chinese car market. Most likely, the Audi A7 L will debut in April this year at the Shanghai Auto Show 2021, which will open its doors from April 21 to 28.
