The German brand will introduce the competitor to the Mercedes CLA coupe the second generation or the upcoming BMW 2 series Gran Coupe its competitor in 2021.
Audi have long played with the idea to make a compact sedan, taking into account previously presented the TT Sportback concept (pictured), which showed in October 2014. But still, such a model was not presented. The guys from Audi clearly want to oppose for the 4-door coupe Mercedes CLA second generation or the upcoming BMW 2 series Gran Coupe is the competitor.
It seems that those who are interested in a more stylish sibling of the A3 sedan will have to wait a little longer, as a new report published in foreign edition Autocar, said that the presentation of the five-door liftback was moved to 2021.
The reason for the delay associated with the “current technical capabilities”, which means that Audi primarily engaged in the development of other models.
Next, the report describes in detail the extensive range that the A3 will offer with the next generation, including conventional Sportback and sedan, but not three-door hatchback and convertible, as these two types of body apparently was removed due to low demand. According to insiders, Audi is currently preparing a new version of the A3 model, which will receive the name Cityhopper. This car will full drive version of the hatchback, but show it is not necessary to wait until mid-2021.
Sources at Audi told Autocar that the next-generation A3 will be “the most advanced car in its class”. A senior representative of the company says that the new product will offer “premium comfort” and a long list of equipment, even the most advanced features.
