The Japanese brand will offer AWD as standard on each of its crossover family starting in the 2022 model year.
Mazda has some pretty significant new items for the US car market. In addition to the new version of the CX-5 crossover, buyers will be offered Mazda crossovers with standard all-wheel drive. As stated in the press release of the Japanese automaker, this is done in order to “give future owners of Mazda crossovers a great pleasure to drive their cars.”
According to the same document, Mazda i-Activ AWD is standard on all 2022 SUVs.
At the moment, there is no understanding of how the inclusion of an all-wheel drive system in the list of standard options for Mazda crossovers will affect the price change of the latter, but it is hard to assume that the Mazda CX crossovers of the 2022 model year will cost a little more than they are now.
Representatives of the brand have repeatedly said that i-Activ AWD establishes some kind of connection between the driver and his car. The system constantly monitors the distribution of weight depending on the dynamics of the car and switches the transmission of torque to the corresponding wheels.
In terms of pricing, the 2021 Mazda CX-3 compact crossover has a starting price tag of $ 20,790. The larger Mazda CX-5, which is the company’s best-selling car, has a starting price tag of $ 25,370.
