The stage of the world championship Formula 1 in Shanghai, China postponed indefinitely. This decision was adopted due to the outbreak of coronavirus. This was reported on the official website of the FIA.
Race in China was held April 17-19. As stated in the official report of the FIA, if the situation in the country normalizes, the Chinese Grand Prix could take place before the end of this year.
“In view of the continuing spread of coronavirus and after long discussions with the Federation of auto and motor sport PRC promoter of the Grand Prix of China formally requested to postpone the competition in 2020. FIA in conjunction with Formula 1 decided to make this an official request from the organizer and move Grand Prix”, – stated in the message.
Up to this stage of the Formula 1 was cancelled in 2011. Then the race was to be in Bahrain, but because of the mass protests in the country were postponed. The next stage of Formula 1 will be held in early April in Vietnam.
The new coronavirus was discovered in the Chinese city of Wuhan, Hubei province in mid-December, 2019. At the moment there are about 42 638 infected and more than 1,000 of the victims.
