Most often, Ukrainians “google” cars that are already in the country. At the same time, the demand for cars from abroad has been growing for the past three years, and if before the priority was the countries of Europe, now it is the USA.
The most popular cars are invariably from Ukraine – they are searched for in Google more than 320 thousand times a month. Over the past three years, the frequency of requests has grown by 6%. This is stated in the study of the online car market in Ukraine from the consulting agency Olshansky and Partners.
Almost half – 48.2% – of Internet requests from Ukraine for searching for a car falls on the markets of four countries: the USA, Lithuania, Poland and Germany. The demand for cars from the USA has grown by 33% in three years – from 89 to 110 thousand requests per month. The growth spurt took place in April-May 2020. At the same time, interest in cars from Lithuania, Poland and Germany decreased.
The study also showed that Ukrainians have developed a habit of searching for cars online through specialized sites. Thus, more than 16.2 million users monthly view cars through aggregators, which take 41.5% of the total “online demand” for cars.
It is also noteworthy that 15.4 million requests (95% of the total demand associated with aggregators) are divided between two sites: Auto RIA and RST. At the same time, since December 2019, interest in the American Copart auction began to grow sharply in Ukraine, which further emphasizes the growing demand for cars from the United States. In three years, the demand associated with this site has grown by 98.9%. On average, Ukrainians search Copart more than 200,000 times a month.
Most often, Ukrainians search the Internet (including without a pronounced intention to buy / sell / rent) Volkswagen cars – about 1.4 million requests per month or 17.4 million per year. Mercedes, BMW, Toyota, Renault, Ford, VAZ, Audi, Nissan and Kia follow in terms of the frequency of requests.
