The hatchback BMW 1 series will not be a full-fledged M version, and place on top of the range is a plug-in hybrid M140e. He will receive a water injection system into the intake manifold and be able to pass on a electric range of up to 110 kilometers.
According to the publication Automobile Magazine, a hybrid hot hatch will join the family of models M Performance and will debut next year. As the power plant on M140e will be used a bunch of two-liter “turboservice” and 60-kW electric motor (81, a 58 horsepower). The total output will be about 400 horsepower and 500 Nm of torque.
The hybrid will get the traction battery to 35 kWh and the water injection system into the intake manifold like on the M4 GTS, which allows to reduce the temperature in the combustion chamber, to increase boost pressure and power. According to preliminary estimates, the hot hatch M140e can electricity pass from 80 to 110 kilometers.
The new BMW 1 series debuted in may 2019. The model switched to front-wheel drive platform FAAR and the first car with internal combustion engine was equipped with traction control system ARB, previously available only for electric cars i3s. The most powerful modification M135i XDrive is a two-liter turbo engine from X2 M35i, which produces 306 horsepower and 450 Nm of torque.
