BMW declares world record


German automaker BMW has reported record global sales in the first quarter of 2021. So, from January to March, the Bavarian company delivered 636,606 vehicles to its customers. This figure is 33.5% more than in the same period last year and is the best in the history of the Bavarian brand.

“In the first quarter of 2021, we continued to grow rapidly, selling more vehicles during this period than ever before. The sales success was supported, among other things, by the strong demand for hybrids and electric vehicles, ”explained Peter Nota, Member of the Management Board of BMW AG.

At the same time, the company stressed that sales growth was demonstrated by each of the BMW Group brands. For example, the main division of BMW delivered 560,543 vehicles to its customers – 36.2% more than last year. X-line crossovers were especially popular with customers (246,068 vehicles, + 36.5%). The 3-Series (+ 43.6%) and 5 Series (+ 43%) also showed significant growth.

For three months in the world the Germans sold 74,683 MINI cars, which is 16.2% more than in the previous year. The most popular car of this brand was the Countryman, whose sales increased by 36%.

The sports line of BMW M cars also showed growth. In the first quarter of 2021, 37 896 such cars were sold worldwide (+ 21%). The most popular models here are the BMW M440i Coupe, BMW X5 M and BMW X6 M.

Finally, since the beginning of the year, the Bavarians have sold 42,592 motorcycles. This is 22.5% more than in the same period in 2020. The German company’s motorcycles are sold by the BMW Motorrad division.
