BMW declassified i4 – it will be shown today

FineAuto

BMW has announced in social networks the premiere of a new electric car, which will take place on March 17, at 14:00. The short text is accompanied by a darkened image of the car’s profile, in which it is easy to guess the “four-door coupe” i4.

This is the production version of the car shown in early spring last year under the name BMW Concept i4. The manufacturer has repeatedly confirmed that the production of this model will be launched in Munich in 2021. We’ve seen test prototypes in spy photos a number of times, and thanks to insiders we know that the electric car will have at least two modifications: the rear-wheel drive i440 and the all-wheel drive i4 M50 xDrive. The twin-engine installation of the latter should develop in the region of 530 forces – like the concept, that is, this model will be more powerful than the gasoline M3 / M4 Competition.

A new era. Stay tuned for our new all-electric vehicle, coming tomorrow. #BMWGroup #BMWi #bornelectric

If we focus on last year’s show car, the battery capacity will be about 80 kilowatt-hours. This should be enough for 600 kilometers (WLTP cycle). As with the BMW iX3 crossover, the i4 is powered by fifth-generation eDrive technologies, according to BMW’s own nomenclature.

On the eve of the Bavarians declassified multimedia and the new generation iDrive operating system and announced that the first to receive it are the BMW i4 and the BMW iX SUV, also completely electric. The manufacturer will also reveal details about the serial version of the latter in the very near future. At the same time, it has long been known that the SUV will enter the assembly line in Dingolfing in 2021. In 2022, another electric crossover, the iX1, will be added to the brand’s product line, which will be made in Regensburg.
