A year after the premiere of the BMW Motorrad Definition CE 04 prototype, the new electric scooter goes into series production: the first commercial units rolled off the assembly line this week. The novelty is released in Berlin, at the same plant that has been making its predecessor, the C evolution model, since 2014.
BMW CE 04 is produced in two versions with electric motors rated at 15 and 20 hp. The maximum output is 31 and 42 hp, the torque in both cases reaches 62 Nm. Acceleration to 50 km / h takes 2.7 and 2.6 seconds, respectively, top speed is electronically limited to 120 km / h.
BMW points out that the 148-volt CE 04 battery contains the same cells used for the iX SUV. There are two capacity options – for 6.3 and 8.5 kilowatt-hours. The range for the world motorcycle test cycle (WMTC) is 100 and 130 kilometers. The built-in 2.3kW charger recovers 80% energy in the junior battery pack in 2 hours 25 minutes, 100% in 3 hours 20 minutes. The charging time for the older battery is 3 hours 30 minutes and 4 hours 20 minutes, respectively. An optional 6.9 kW device will also be offered, with which the same procedures will take from 50 minutes to 1 hour 40 minutes.
