BMW has published a teaser racing M2 Competition

The Bavarians are going to turn a serial compartment into a full track car for beginners. Sports car will debut in the next weekend.

BMW already has a similar model called it M240i Racing and is equipped with a 340-strong three-liter “six”. This time, it seems, we are talking about something more powerful, easy and manageable. The novelty is positioned as a car for the mass of Motorsport and club racing.

The details are scarce. It is known that for the first time in public, the novelty will appear in the next weekend in the framework of the six-hour endurance race VLN series at the Nurburgring, and the debut will be a full-blown sports car will take part in the martial races under the control of the members of the factory sports BMW Motorsport Junior programme.

It is argued that this race will be both a debut and last stage of the test program before the start of sales. The task of the manufacturer – “to hold another hard testing the car in extreme racing conditions on the most demanding track in the world”.

Delivery of vehicles to the first customers is planned to begin in the second quarter of 2020, that is just the beginning of a sports season. According to preliminary data, BMW racing M2 Competition will be available in two versions – Racing and Clubsport, but how they differ, will be known only at the end of the week. The civilian version of the M2 coupe with Competition console is equipped with a 410-horsepower engine and is able to gain the first 100 km/h in 4.2 seconds.
