BMW has unveiled an upgraded version of the most powerful modification of the new generation 1-Series hatchback – the M135i xDrive. The model underwent significant technical refinement less than three years after its premiere and received a new suspension re-tuned with an emphasis on “even more confident cornering behavior and transparency of feedback.”

The main changes were made to the car’s suspension, which improved its handling. The M135i xDrive received new springs, shock absorbers and additional hydraulic arm mounts in the front suspension. In addition, the manufacturer has changed the angles of the front wheels and the support of the rear suspension arms. Such improvements should improve handling and take it to a new level.

The rest of the changes were not so significant. For example, the back pressure in the exhaust system has been reduced in order to change the sound of the exhaust operation. In addition, BMW engineers have re-tuned and amplified the artificial engine sound delivered to the cabin through the speakers of the audio system.

As for the external improvements, the hot hatch has become brighter in the truest sense of the word. Three new paint finishes have been added to the current BMW M135i xDrive color scheme: BMW M São Paulo Yellow, BMW Individual Frosty Orange metallic and BMW Individual Frosty Pure Gray metallic.

The powertrain remains the same. The BMW M135i is still equipped with a 2.0-liter turbo engine producing 306 horsepower, which is paired with an 8-speed “automatic” and all-wheel drive with a Torsen front limited-slip differential (locking ratio – up to 36% during acceleration). Acceleration from standstill to 100 km / h takes just 4.8 seconds.

Prices for the upgraded BMW M135i xDrive have not yet been announced.

Although it is definitely an unfinished replica, I would be interested in contact details, anyway. Maybe this could be an interesting project.
