The new CEO of BMW, Oliver Zipse, announced the company’s readiness to switch to electricity.

BMW will be ready for any ICE ban from 2030 by offering electric cars, CEO Oliver Zipse said on Tuesday.

The EU has proposed an effective ban on fossil fuel cars from 2035 as part of a broader package of measures to combat global warming.

BMW CEO Oliver Zipse:

We will be ready to ban internal combustion engines. If the region, city, country comes to the idea of ​​banning gasoline and diesel engines, we have a proposal.

Unlike competitors, including Volkswagen and General Motors, BMW has not set a date for the end of production of vehicles with internal combustion engines. However, electric cars are expected to account for 50 percent of global car sales by 2030.
