Photospies spotted BMW’s new flagship crossover.
The head of BMW, Oliver Zipse, in an interview with CNBC, said that in the American Spartanburg, by the end of 2021, he will begin assembling a “completely new high-end model” for the world market. More detailed information about the model has not been published, however, the specialists of the Carscoops publication suggest that we are talking about the BMW X8 crossover.
The brand’s plant in Spartanberg now produces all-terrain vehicles – from X3 to X7, and almost 70% of the company’s production is exported. This may indicate that the novelty announced by the head of BMW will almost certainly turn out to be a crossover.
The German automaker is currently working on a new large coupe-crossover, spy photos of which have appeared more than once. The model has been undergoing tests for a long time and has been repeatedly seen, including at the Nurburgring. Most likely, the model will be based on the architecture of the current BMW X7, and it will appear on sale under the name X8.
It is expected that the crossover coupe will also be available as a charged M version under the hood, which will house a 750-horsepower V8. In this case, the novelty will overtake even the 650-horsepower Lamborghini Urus in terms of output.
Recall that earlier it was reported that the BMW X8 will be offered with at least two types of hybrid power plants, and one of them may go to the M version. It is possible that we are talking about a combination of a gasoline V8 with twin turbocharging and an electric motor.
