BMW started development of a new compact crossover, according to AutoExpress. This is expected to be the smallest and cheapest SUV in the range of Bavarian brand, which now consists of seven models. According to unofficial data, the car will be called Urban X. the Main competitor of new items will be the Audi Q2. The exact premiere date of the car is still unknown.
In the lineup, the crossover will take place on the step below X2, which at the moment is the most compact SUV (length 4360 mm) from BMW. Length of the car is just over four meters. Novelty is based on the UKL2 platform. It’s chassis is already a used BMW 1-Series, 2-Series, X1 and the family Mini. The crossover will be available with both front-wheel and all-wheel drive.
In addition to the petrol and diesel engines, the car will get a hybrid version. The structure of the power installation this modification will include the 1.5-liter gasoline engine and an electric motor. The total capacity of the crossover will amount to 224 horsepower. It is also expected the emergence of Urban electric version X. of charge and Without ecological crossover can travel about 400 kilometers.
Another crossover BMW – iNext – present in 2021. This new product will get electric power plant with a capacity of up to 800 horsepower. The power reserve of the crossover will vary depending on the version. Without recharging the novelty will be able to pass from 450 to 700 kilometers.
All by 2025, the company BMW plans to release 25 serial of electrified models. Of these, 12 will be equipped with fully electric propulsion systems.
