German concern BMW announced the recall of M2 and M4 Coupe models. Only 21 units of both models participate in the service promotion: one M4 and 20 M2 due to an error on the Assembly line, due to which the fuel injectors were installed without a damping component.
The latter is used to reduce vibration, and without it, the connection between the fuel line and the fuel ramp can be damaged over time. The defect will lead to a fuel leak, which, if there is an ignition source, will increase the risk of fire. It is noted that BMW is not aware of any accidents or injuries related to this problem.
According to NHTSA, the problem was discovered on October 15 by a worker during engine Assembly. A review was initiated, and after additional assessments, a voluntary safety review was announced a week later. The only M4 coupe included in this recall was born on March 17, 2020. M2 was released in the period from June 23 to October 14 this year.
The recall is expected to begin on December 21. Dealers were informed at the end of October, and owners will be notified by first-class mail. After this date, the company’s authorized technicians will inspect each vehicle. If the damping component is missing, the injectors and fuel ramp will be replaced. All works will be carried out free of charge.
