Photospies have captured the mysterious BMW M5 Competition being tested on European public roads.
Photo spies were able to capture a new foreign car BMW M5, which at first glance, the model does not look special. The model was equipped with rear fenders. This is a clear sign of the wider track and wheels with wider 295 tires. This is remarkable since the standard M5 has 275 tires and the M5 Competition has 285 tires.
The photos say little about the car, other than that the M5 will come with a wider track and wider rear tires. As a result, we’re not entirely sure what the new BMW presented this model. One possibility is that this is just a special version that could debut next year to celebrate the 50th anniversary of BMW M. This remains to be seen, but the company previously stated that 2022 will be a “year of surprises” with special editions showcasing brand models.
It is also possible that this is not a prototype, but rather a mule for the next generation model.
The refreshed M5 is rumored to arrive in 2024 and will have an electrified powertrain. It consists of a V8 engine and an electric motor. It is reported that such a setup will give the car a total power output of about 750 hp. and 998 Nm of torque.
There were also rumors of an EV variant that would get a three-engined drivetrain capable of producing up to 1006 hp. It is reported that this will allow the environmentally friendly M5 to accelerate from 0 to 100 km / h in just 2.9 seconds. It is possible that the car will receive a 135 kWh battery, which will allow it to travel up to 700 km in accordance with the Worldwide Harmonized Testing Procedure for Light Vehicles.
