Thanks to Chinese officials, the appearance of the updated BMW X3 ceased to be a secret back in the middle of last month, but now the manufacturer himself showed the crossover. At the same time, the coupe-like X4 was presented, and not only the basic models, but also the “charged” ones from the BMW M division, went through the planned modernization.

Both SUVs received narrower head optics, visually aligned “nostrils” of the grilles, redesigned bumpers, and modified graphics for the rear lights. The wheel design has also been revised, ranging from 19 to 21 inches, and several new colors have been added to the body color palette, including from the BMW Individual catalog.

The cabin retains a free-standing 10.25-inch display for the infotainment system and a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster. For the first time for the X3 and X4, the Professional driver’s assistant has been added to the equipment list, that is, active cruise control with stop & go function and steering.

In native Germany, all versions of “civilian” crossovers are now electrified: diesel cars had a 48-volt starter-generator last year, and now it accompanies gasoline engines. The power of the motors varies from 184 to 360 HP

BMW X3 M and X4 M Competition retained the 510-horsepower version of the “turbo six”, while the torque increased from 600 to 650 Nm – as in the new passenger cars M3 and M4. As a result, the acceleration time to 100 km / h was reduced by three tenths of a second – to 3.8 seconds. The top speed is still limited to 250 km / h, but with the optional M Driver’s package it can be raised to 285 km / h. Interestingly, the base 480-horsepower X3 M and X4 M will no longer be available in Germany.
