The automotive market will run out of chips throughout 2022, Jiang Jian, Vice President of Bosch China, predicted during the China Auto Supply Chain Conference, Bloomberg reports.

According to the top manager, in July microchip manufacturers were able to fulfill only 20% of orders and most of the orders are still outstanding.

Jiang Jian believes that the deficit will narrow, and the gap between supply and demand in 2022 will be 5 times smaller than in the first half of 2021.

Recall that the shortage of semiconductors was first discussed at the beginning of this year. As speedme.ru experts have already said more than once, this has led to a reduction in production at once by several large auto concerns, including Toyota, Nissan, Ford, Volkswagen and FCA. AvtoVAZ also faced a problem this summer.

Growth in sales of microprocessors, computers and laptops, as well as excessively high rates of car production, which came as a surprise to many component manufacturers in 2020, were cited as reasons for the shortage.
