“Boys like it”: Supra will get “mechanics”

Toyota Supra J29 / DB generation has been on sale since spring 2019 and is available in two versions: with a two- or three-liter engine. In both cases, the unit is paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. According to the Japanese portal Carsensor.net, already in 2022, a version with a six-speed “mechanics” in combination with a 3.0 engine will enter the market. Later, in 2023, the debut of the “charged” Supra GRMN will take place, which is predicted to have a motor with a capacity of more than 500 horsepower.

According to insiders, the Supra with a manual transmission will enter the assembly line next spring, and these will be versions equipped with a three-liter engine with a capacity of 340-387 horsepower. At the same time, the “junior” engine 2.0 will still work exclusively with the automatic machine.

As for the Toyota Supra GRMN, then, with a high degree of probability, it will be offered with an uprated 3.0-liter S58 unit from the BMW M3 and M4, the return of which will be about 510 horsepower. A restyled version of the model is planned for 2024, and 2025 may be the last for the current generation of Supra.

It should be noted that the new Toyota Supra has already been equipped with “mechanics”: last year the first copy of such a coupe was assembled by the European Auto Group tuning studio. Replacing the automatic transmission with a BMW six-speed gearbox cost the tuners 12 thousand dollars.
