The Kaiyi brand, known in narrow circles for its compact Showjet (a clone of Chery Tiggo 4), has announced a new “sports” sedan Xuandu (Xuandu), whose sales will begin in August or September. It looks like we have an interpretation of the Chery four-door from the Arrizo line: the dimensions are close, and the units are the same. Xuandu also received a petrol turbocharger 1.5 (156 hp, 230 Nm) with “mechanics”, variator and front-wheel drive. The run-of-the-mill sedan is expected to delight Chinese youths with a low price tag as Showjet starts at 58,900 yuan ($ 9,100).
Dimensions: 4666x1825x1483 mm, between the axles 2700. The whole “sport” was expressed in red brake calipers and wheels imitating the ancient Chinese weapon ge. Ironically, the new model uses the old Cowin brand logo.
Shoudjet has a bifurcated release – real, which means that the sedan is also not fake. The role of the aerodynamic body kit is played by a duck tail spoiler on the trunk lid.
Chery still owns 47.82% of the Kaiyi brand, but the Wuliangye Group has been controlling the majority since 2018. The brand has been counting its history since January 2014 and now starts life from scratch, removing old models from the showcase. Demand leaves much to be desired: in June, 1,271 vehicles were sold (-27.37%), in the first half of the year, 8,851 units were sold. The company’s production capacity, designed for 150,000 vehicles per year, is used only at 11.8%. Now Kaiyi promises to release one or two new models every year and carry out 1-2 restyling. Madagascar will be the first overseas market in July.
