Bus for ‘bad’ schoolchildren sold at auction

A regular 1948 Dodge Power Wagon school bus was sold at the Mecum auction, but it had a special powertrain.

For the Dodge Power Wagon bus, they paid $ 60,500 at an auction. The high price of the vehicle is explained by the Hellcat V8 power unit, which they managed to put under the hood of the bus.

The output of the 6.2-liter supercharged engine is not reported, but it reaches 808 horsepower on Dodge models. The author of this project, Alan Vanevenhoven, also installed a Dodge 46RH automatic transmission and an NP208 transfer case in the bus. The dynamic performance of this school bus is not disclosed. Developed it for 10 months for the SEMA auto show.

Externally, the Dodge Power Wagon bus has been preserved almost in its original condition. Except that the length is very small, the bumpers are different, and the wheels indicate that the bus has undergone some kind of revision. The interior of the bus is more than austere: the benches in the passenger compartment and the driver’s seat are all-metal, without any upholstery. In addition, the Dodge Power Wagon has powerful disc brakes on all wheels, as well as a custom exhaust.
