Two camouflaged prototypes of a high-performance novelty hit the lens of the spy cameras.
The V-division of Cadillac, which specializes in high-performance versions of the brand’s models, has been around for almost as long as the Escalade. This brutal SUV entered the market back in 1990, and the first car with the V brand (CTS-V) appeared in 2004. Over the years, however, the Escalade and the V brand have never crossed paths.
Now everything has changed. Foreign portal Motor1.com has published spy photos of two camouflaged test SUVs Escalade, which, according to sources, are part of the V family.
The camouflage makes it difficult to see the details of the upgrade, but we notice that the SUV has begun to look a little more aggressive, including due to the exhaust holes for the four tailpipes. This is another hint that the spies caught an unusual SUV.
One test car is shorter than a standard Escalade, and the other is stretched like an ESV. Both ride on black multi-spoke wheels, but there appears to be no change to the Escalade’s ride height to improve handling.
As for the engine, according to the assumptions of auto experts, the new version will receive the same 6.2-liter supercharged V8 from the CT5-V Blackwing. The power of such an engine is 668 horsepower, although it is possible that the engine will be reconfigured for the Escalade. There is no information about the debut date of the “infected” Cadillac Escalade-V, even preliminary.
Heavy camouflage with fake panels indirectly means that some time will pass before the public premiere. According to the most optimistic forecasts, the novelty may be presented next year as a model of 2023.
