A video has been published on the foreign YouTube channel carwow, which shows an extremely unusual drag race in which heavy trucks from Volvo and Scania take part.
Truck races do exist, but they have a very different meaning in North America and Europe. For example, in the Old Continent, a truck race could mean a duel between two or more large semi-trailer trucks.
As a UK media channel on YouTube, Carwow has used a more European meaning for “truck” in the title of its latest YouTube video. In a 13-minute video, we see three trucks competing with each other in an attempt to get to the finish line first. It’s definitely not the most exciting race we’ve ever seen, but there is still a lot to see.
Let’s start with numbers first. On the right is a Scania Skiploader bunker truck with a 9-liter diesel engine producing 250 horsepower.
Next to it is a Volvo concrete pump with a much smaller engine capacity of 5.0 liters, although its exact power is not shown in the video. However, Volvo’s contender for victory is a full five tons lighter than its competitors. Finally, Matt Watson drives a Scania tractor with a 280 hp 9-liter engine.
It’s not the most addictive drag racing game to be honest, but obviously it’s for entertainment purposes only. The winner of this competition was able to overcome the standard quarter mile for this type of race (402 meters – ed.) In 29.8 seconds, which is more than three times the Carwow record recorded by the Rimac Nevera electric hypercar.
