Changan Uni-K to get brand new hybrid technology


Brand Changan announced that a hybrid modification of the brand’s flagship crossover, the Uni-K, will be unveiled in China later this year. It will feature a completely new hybrid technology called Blue Core iDD.

The Blue Core iDD (intellectual Dual Drive) system is a hybrid technology based on two motors: an electric and a standard ICE. Its basis is a turbo four with a working volume of 1.5 liters, producing 177 hp. and 260 Nm of torque. The exact power parameters of the electric motor have not yet been indicated, however, during the presentation, Changan noted that the total torque of the installation could be 590 Nm. The battery capacity reaches 30.7 kW. The range on one electric traction with a similar battery is 130 km (NEDC).

It is noted that the fuel consumption of the hybrid Changan Uni-K will be within 1 liter per 100 kilometers. And the total cruising range of the flagship of the Uni family, equipped with Blue Core iDD technology, will be 1 thousand 100 km. Although the release of this modification is planned only at the end of 2021, its spy shots have already appeared on the Web. Changan’s flagship crossover will have a minimum of external changes. Among them, only the charger connector can be distinguished, as well as the exhaust system, which has become not as aggressive as in the standard model.

Let us recall the main parameters of the Changan Uni-K crossover: the dimensions of the car are 4856x1948x1700 mm with a wheelbase of 2890 mm. The ground clearance of the car is different for the front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive modifications and is equal to 173 mm and 182 mm, respectively. At the moment, the Changan flagship is equipped with only one engine: a 2.0-liter JL486ZQ5 with 233 hp. and 390 Nm of torque, paired with an 8-speed “automatic”.
