The Chinese state-owned corporation SAIC has opened a pre-order for the Feifan R7 electric coupe crossover. It was this SUV that became the first car designed specifically for the new brand, but first things first.
The Feifan R7 is positioned as a competitor to the popular NIO EC6 electric crossover. Machines are roughly the same size. Dimensions R7: 4900mm long x 1925mm wide x 1655mm high. Wheelbase – 2950 mm. The company is especially proud that the drag coefficient of their crossover turned out to be one of the lowest in the class.
It is worth noting that the Feifan R7 is equipped with a rooftop lidar powered by an Nvidia Orin smart driving chip. According to official information, the lidar is capable of detecting other vehicles at a distance of more than 500 meters. In addition, the car received a “smart cabin”, based on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155 chip.
But the most important feature of the model is the ability to quickly replace the battery. The new SAIC technology is called Rising Power and allows you to change the battery in 2.5 minutes. For comparison, for NIO, this process takes about three minutes. However, plans to install quick battery change stations in SAIC are still silent.
The power plant Feifan R7 consists of a pair of electric motors that develop about 544 horsepower and 700 Nm of torque. Acceleration to 100 km / h will take about 4 seconds. There is no information about the battery capacity, but the manufacturer claims that the car will be able to drive about 600 kilometers on a single charge.
Recall that the newly formed company Feifan replaced the not very successful R Auto brand, under which, in particular, the fairly well-known Marvel R electric crossover was produced. The decision to create Feifan Automotive Technology was made in order to distance electric vehicles from the parent brand Roewe with which R Auto products were associated.
Initially, the Feifan lineup will include all existing R Auto models: the ER6 sedan and the Marvel R crossover. A little later, the coupe R7 will join them. It can already be pre-ordered (no pricing information yet). Importantly, all cars will retain the old R Auto logo, which is a stylized R.
