Changes in the tax code. How will this affect sales of used cars?

In the Service center of the Ministry of internal Affairs has told about what changes have occurred in the Tax code to pay taxes from sales of cars. It is reported by UNN with reference to the page in the Telegram of the Ministry of interior.

“Friends, please note that there have been changes in the Tax code of Ukraine. Therefore, the income derived by individuals from sales during the year passenger cars, trailers, mopeds and motorcycles are taxed at following rates:

  • selling the first cars – 0%;
  • selling the second car – 5% of the car + military fee of 1.5%;
  • selling a third or more – 18% of the car + military tax – 1,5%”, – stated in the message.

Provided that this provision entered into force on 23 may 2020.

“We remind you that when selling a bus or a truck is charged a tax of 5% of the appraised value, even for the first operation in a calendar year”, – stated in the message.

We will remind, in February of 2019, according to the Ministry of Infrastructure in Ukraine, there were 6.9 million cars. And very old age. The average age of cars in Ukraine for 22 years. For comparison, the average age of cars in the EU – 8, US – 11, 12, Saudi Arabia – 3 years.

It was noted that every year the Ukrainians are buying fewer new cars. For the period from 2012 to 2018, the sales volume has decreased three times. According to “Ukravtoprom”, in 2012 it sold 237 602 new cars, and in 2018 – a total of 81 877. Most popular – Toyota (10 082), Renault (8722) and Volkswagen (6183).

We will remind, from 22 may in Ukraine again take examinations on the driving license.
