In early January, Toyota introduced the “charged” hatchback Yaris GR, homologation model for participation in the world rally Championship (FIA WRC). Now the company has revealed its “simple” version: it has an engine, a CVT and front-wheel drive.
Externally, Toyota Yaris GR CVT similar to the 272-horsepower four-wheel drive hot hatch. However, technically, it is a completely different car. Instead of a three-cylinder turbo engine G16E-GTS 1.6-liter, GR CVT Yaris equipped with a 1.5-liter “aspirated” with a capacity of 120 horsepower and 145 Nm of torque. A six-speed “mechanics” iMT with the function of matching revs when shifting is replaced by the CVT.

Disappeared and GR all-wheel drive transmission-with FOUR multi-plate clutch in the rear axle, two optional Torsen differential with mechanical lock and three modes. “Simplified” GR Toyota Yaris has a drive only the front wheels.
While GR Yaris CVT – only a concept, and the original GR Yaris is already available for order in versions of RZ “First Edition” and RZ “High-performance First Edition” with different equipment. The first option will cost 3.96 million yen ($36100), the second with 4.56 million yen ($41600).
