Charging is no longer a problem: GAC Aion introduces ultra-fast charger

Aion is a sub-brand of the Chinese automaker GAC, and its activities are focused solely on the creation of electric vehicles. Last month, we posted a report that the GAC Aion V EV was photographed charging at 481kW with 80 percent battery charge.

The photo was taken during a charging demonstration hosted by GAC Aion and the company has now officially unveiled its charger and the official attention-grabbing features are 480kW @ 857V and 560A. It is called A480 and it is claimed to be it can produce 35.1 kWh in just 4 minutes and 50 seconds, which is comparable in time to refueling a car with an internal combustion engine. At the same time, the manufacturer claims that it has passed 12 different safety standards, so it can not only provide the declared speeds, but also do it safely.

And if you’re wondering how a smaller and relatively unknown Chinese company outperforms Tesla. GAC Aion says it uses graphene batteries, which can not only deliver 1,000 km (621 mi) of NEDC on a single charge, but they can also be continually charged quickly, and they seem to still be good for 1,000,000 km. , although the second point will be more difficult to demonstrate.

The company will also unveil the 500km NEDC Aion V electric vehicle in September, which will be able to use these new chargers and their seemingly incredible speed, which should charge the car to 80 percent in just 10 minutes.
