The Chinese company Chery has published the first teasers of a new budget electric vehicle called QQ Ice Cream. According to the Autohome edition, the novelty will compete with the Wuling Hongguang MINI EV model, one of the most popular electric vehicles in China. Its cost starts from 29 thousand yuan, which is equivalent to about $ 4,500.
While about Chery QQ Ice Cream only know that it will be a compact three-door hatchback with an angular body and round LED optics. Specifications are still kept secret.
At the same time, the Chinese noted that together with the model they are launching an internal system called iCar, which will represent a “digital ecosystem” for the exchange of data between Chery cars. The technology will, among other things, provide for deep integration of various Alibaba services through cloud storage. According to preliminary data, the official premiere of QQ Ice Cream will take place before the end of this year.
At the moment, the Chery brand offers seven models of electric cars in China. The most popular is the compact hatchback EQ1, which has sold more than 200 thousand units in China since 2017. The car is about 3.2 m long, equipped with a 41-horsepower electric motor and a set of 18 kWh lithium-ion batteries, which allow it to travel about 150 kilometers without recharging. Prices for such a car, taking into account government subsidies, start at 50 thousand yuan (about $ 7,700 at the current exchange rate).
