Chery has announced the premiere of an electric crossover under the Exeed premium sub-brand. The novelty will debut as a concept car at the Shanghai Auto Show, which opens to the media on April 19 and runs until April 28.
There are still few details about the model. In the two published teasers, the crossover is captured in front and in profile: it has a long hood, littered C-pillars, a sloping roof and an unusual front design with glowing C-shaped elements. Instead of traditional outside mirrors, there are small cameras.
The electric car will be based on some new architecture. According to one of the versions, we are talking about the @Life platform, presented in the fall of 2020. It is designed for crossovers, minivans and models of other segments with rear and all-wheel drive, equipped with units from 129 to 490 horsepower (95-360 kilowatts). Potentially, electric cars built on this “cart” can travel up to 700 kilometers on a single battery charge.
Chery already has one serial crossover built on the @Life platform: the mid-size Mayi (Ant and Ant). In China, the model was estimated at 160 thousand yuan ($ 24,500 at the current exchange rate). Chery Mayi is powered by a 177-horsepower electric motor powered by a 70.1 kilowatt-hour battery. The claimed cruising range of the crossover is 510 kilometers according to the NEDC cycle, and the maximum speed is 170 kilometers per hour.
